Unless you are a total stranger to Internet you might have heard the term SEO at least 10 times a day. Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines. If you are a website or blog owner you may already know how important SEO is in bringing traffic towards your blog. There is a lot of discussion about SEO experts and people are curious about this issue they always ask what should we do to become successful SEO Expert. You must understand the fact that SEO is not that damn hard thing to learn. If you have good analytical and logical thinking capabilities and if you have some patience then you can master the techniques of SEO in short time. In this blog post I will share 6 useful tips, which will help you during the path of mastering SEO.

1. Practice makes it perfect
The old proverb is the best when it comes to SEO. More practice, more good. Start one or two websites/blogs and come up with unique SEO ideas. Be brave enough to test those techniques in your sites. You must also remember that achieving success in SEO takes hard work and time. Nothing happens overnight, so be patient and keep trying. To become a good SEO expert you need to practice at least 8 – 12 months. Since the game revolves around the world of Internet, therefore it is mandatory that the person must be Internet savvy. He/she must have deep knowledge of Internet.

2. Come up with unique ideas
Don’t just try to imitate what others do. You must have your own techniques. Puzzle your brain and come up with some unique ideas. Try those techniques in your website. Compare the results and come to a conclusion whether that idea was beneficial or not. Always stick with White Hat techniques. Black Hat techniques may give you some initial changes but it is not good for a long run. Also please refrain from spamming techniques.

3. Develop a skill of selecting the Keywords
Your keywords act like a storefront sign for your online business. Keywords play the most important role in search rankings. A good SEO expert must be able find the best keyword he should target with. Practice learning, how to write and place keywords into your web content and HTML elements. Playing with keywords is a skill that you must develop.

4. Get updated with changes
Search engines will make frequent variations to their search algorithm. An SEO expert must know these changes and should respond quickly. From my experience discussion forums are the best places to get information’s quickly. Join and be active in some webmasters forums. Google Webmasters Forum and Digital Point are my recommendations. Also subscribe to blogs dedicated to search engine optimization techniques and continue to educate you about the trends in this field.

5. Prepare your toolkit
There are tons of free and paid tools available in the Internet, which will help you in SEO. Just give them a try. You don’t need to use all the tools. Just stick with 3 – 4 tools which you feel comfort with. Google Adwords tool or Wordtracker is a must have tool in your toolkit.

6. Be a little selfish
Last but not the least; be a little selfish with your SEO works. If you found a way to dominate search engines then please do not share it with anyone, even with God J. If many people came to know about your technique they will try to imitate it and you may not get the same effect, which you got earlier. This is a common practice in the SEO field. When you search for some blog promotion techniques or website monetization techniques you will get tons of articles. But this is not in the case of SEO. When you search Google for SEO techniques you will get only few helpful pages and all those pages repeat the same old stuffs like link exchanges, bookmarking etc. Do you know why this happens, because people don’t like to share their SEO secrets? So you are also expected to do the same. Keep your mouth shut if anyone asks about your techniques.
